Sometimes, having gone down the route of debt management, it will be necessary to open a new bank account. There is a basic bank account available to even those with the poorest of credit scores. A basic bank account is similar to a current account except that you will not be given a cheque book and card nor allowed an overdraft facility. However you will get a cash card for withdrawals from an ATM, and you will also have the banks branch facilities for other transactions.

The problem is that these type of accounts cost the banks money and are only issued as a desperate measure, this means that you have to specifically ask for them rather than the banks doing an application for a normal bank account then rejecting you.

These bank accounts are not well publicised by the banks so you will need to enquire direct with the bank of your choice, we have provided a list of banks which do provide this facility.
